Avoiding MLM Scams
Ewen Chia
In every industry, there are unscrupulous parties waiting to defraud and capitalize on the ignorance of people so that they could make a quick buck for themselves. No field of business is spared. Every sector has some rotten tomatoes lurking in its midst. The multi-level marketing industry is one these fields. Indeed, there are quite a number of MLM scams in the market today, and they give the entire industry a bad name. So, how do we avoid these MLM scams?
Well, if MLM scams prey on the ignorance of people, the best way to counter it would be to arm ourselves with the right knowledge about the industry. By learning about the various aspects of this field, we will be able to pinpoint MLM scams from a mile afar. The fact is, we should be responsible enough to conduct due diligence on the programs we enroll with, and this includes MLM programs. By making every effort to verify the credibility of these programs as well as the veracity of their claims, we would be able to distinguish the real ones from the MLM scams. Let’s take a look at some of the questions you should be asking yourself before joining an MLM program, so that you’d be able to avoid MLM scams.
* How long has the MLM company been in existence? Surely, if they have been in business for a long time, they must be doing something right. MLM scams generally don’t operate that long. MLM scams are in a hurry to wrap things up as soon as they defraud a substantial number of people. For this reason, length of time in the business can be a telling sign of the MLM company’s credibility.
* How solid is the MLM company’s system? A cursory look at the way the company does business can help you weed out the MLM scams from the genuine ones. Real MLM companies have everything perfected, and written in stone. Studying the same would reveal a generally fail-proof manner by which they conduct their business.
* How sustainable is the MLM company’s goals. This is the easiest to ascertain to help you avoid MLM scams. How much is the company willing to pay you? Compare this to how much the company actually earns. MLM scams promise more commission for you, completely disregarding the amount they need to sustain the business. The reason is simple, these MLM scams don’t intend to pay you at all, hence their ability to make those monumental guarantees. So choose MLM companies that have a healthy balance of profit and payables, to be sure that they won’t end up as MLM scams.
* Does the MLM company have a history of bad transactions? MLM scams have a long, storied history of agent complaints. These can range from non-payment to under-payment to non-delivery of the products purchased. MLM scams will always try to avoid these issues with non-answers. Credible companies will always try to fix these issues as soon as possible.
MLM scams are not really that difficult to pinpoint. All you have to do is to arm yourself with enough knowledge and diligence to reveal their true nature. To avoid MLM scams, hesitation is encouraged. When in doubt, investigate.
